The Better Austin Today Political Action Committee:
ENDORSEMENTS
“Better Austin Today endorses Jason Meeker in Place 1 and Laura Morrison in Place 4. We do not have an endorsement in Place 3 since none of the candidates in that race garnered 60 percent or more of the vote of our Board of Directors, which is the minimum required for us to make an endorsement.”
“Jason Meeker is a fresh voice for change in Place 1. Meeker’s passion for ensuring all stakeholders have a seat at the table is exactly what Austin needs to counter the insider mentality and special interest domination of City Hall. Meeker is a successful independent businessman who understands the critical role of entrepreneurs in our local economy. He has the vision Austin needs and a reliable commitment to crafting inclusive solutions that stands in stark contrast to the current Council.”
The Travis County Green Party:
AUSTIN, TX — The Travis County Green Party is pleased to endorse Jason Meeker
for Place 1 and Laura Morrison for Place 4 in this week’s Austin City Council
elections. Party members were not sufficiently enthusiastic about any of the
candidates for the Place 3 race to render an endorsement. The Party reminds
voters that early voting begins on Monday, April 28, and to get out and vote!
“Laura and Jason have demonstrated a deep understanding of the issues facing
Austin today and have the wisdom and courage to steer the city into a
challenging future,” said Bill Holloway, organizer for the party. “Austin is
a great place to live because great people fight to keep it that way. We are
confident that Jason and Laura are ready to fight for the people’s interest.”
Austin is at a crossroads and needs Councilmembers who will put the needs of
all the people — our neighborhoods, our citizens, our communities of color,
our low- and middle-income families — at the top of the agenda. We need a
City Council that will be accountable, accessible and responsive its citizens
and that will abolish the developer-profit agenda that dominates City Hall and
city staff today. In order to fulfill is mission of being the most livable
city in the nation, Austin must ensure that every Austinite benefits equally
and is equally protected by city government.”
